2011 District Calendar is available The 2011 Sweetwater District Calendar is completed and now available online. To access the calendar, please follow this link. Fall Camporee - Search and Rescue! Boy Scout Troops, get ready for the Fall Camporee, September 17 - 19 at Bert Adams Scout Reservation. This year's theme is Search and Rescue. We'll be simulating a real life missing person search and rescue, engaging in a variety of situations as we work to find the missing girl. Scouts will learn new skills, including first aid, semaphore flags (signaling) and orienteering. Join in for camping, games and a trail food cooking competition. District Training Opportunities With a new Scouting year comes the need for new training opportunities. The Sweetwater District will be conducting various training sessions, beginning with Scoutmaster training on September 14, 21 and 28. October will focus on Cub Leader training. For schedules and information, please visit the District training page. Popcorn Mid-Sale Rally - Sept 18 Join us for the Popcorn Mid-Sale Rally on September 18 at the Volunteer Service Center. Scouts will enjoy carnival games, an obstacle course, magic show, prize giveaways and an opportunity to win an exclusive grand prize. Click here for more information. Fall 2010 Beltloop Bonanza! Cub Scouts, come join us on October 9th for the Fall 2010 Beltloop Bonanza! This year's event will be held at Deerlick Park in Douglasville. Take part is activities such as Archery, BB Guns, Softball, Music, Computers, and Hockey, among others. This is going to be a great even that you do not want to miss. Registration will be coming soon but details are currently available by following this link. Webelos Woods at Paulding Meadows We're gearing up for this Fall's Webelos Woods. The event will take place on October 15 - 17 and will be held at Paulding Meadows in Paulding County. There will be a host of activities, including the much heralded Cub Mobiles, returning from several years' retirement. Make plans to bring your Webelos Scouts for some fun, adventure and camaraderie with Scouts from across the District. Bear Leaders, you are invitedand encouraged to join, even if only for a day. The cost to attend will be $5 for adults and $8 for Scouts. And, this is a great opportunity for the Boy Scouts to assist. Make Plans to Attend ScoutFest This October 23 is a huge event for Scouts at all levels. The Atlanta Area Council presents ScoutFest at the Cobb Galleria. ScoutFest is a one-day event in which Scouting units from throughout the Council come together to stage exhibits and demonstrations that bring to life the fun and adventure of Scouting for all to experience. Come experience a all sorts of demonstrations showing everything that Scouting is and does - indoors and outdoors. ScoutFest is a big, noisy, active and fun for the entire family - general public included and an opportunity for Cub Scout Packs, Boy Scout Troops and other types of Scouting units to show their stuff and also to learn new ideas. District Advancement Day Watch for details concerning this year's District Advancement Day (DAD), being held on November 20 at the First United Methodist Church of Douglasville. This year promises to bring the most available badges in some time, including bugling, photography, geology and the Centennial badges carpentry, signaling and pathfinding. There will be all day and half day classes offered. New Scouts will have the opportunity to take the Rawhide class, an introduction to Boy Scouting. The planned cost is $5 per Scout.
