Sweetwater Twilight Camp Registration is Open
The registration deadline for Sweetwater Twilight Camp is only 4 DAYS AWAY! The registration will be cut off after
Friday and no more Scouts will be taken. Register now for the 2012 Sweetwater District Twilight Camp, scheduled
for June 4 - 8. The theme this year is Jungle Adventures and, with activities like BBs, Archery, Woodworking and
games, this is going to be the best Twilight Camp ever! The location this year is going to be the Douglas County
Sheriff's Department shooting range, the same location as the last Beltloop Bonanza, and the cost is $65 per Scout.
Also, volunteers are needed to assist as Den Leaders and leading the various events. Boy Scouts are also encouraged
to assist at camp. Whether you can give one day or the full week, your help is needed in making this a great event.
Information can be found on the Sweetwater Twilight Camp page.
All Scouts and leaders attending will need to complete the Health Form, parts A and B, and bring it with them to
camp. The form can be downloaded via this link
Den Chief Training Opportunity
Boy Scouts who are First Class and above who desire to become leaders through service as Cub Scout or
Webelos Scout Den Chiefs, registration is now online for training in this important Troop leadership position. As part
of the training you'll learn the responsibilities of a Den Chief, what makes a successful Cub Scout or Webelos
meeting, contests and games and most importantly, how to lead. The course is June 2 and the cost is $15 per Scout
and requires Scoutmaster approval. The age requirement for the course has been lowered to a minimum of 12 years
old. Scouts must still have achieved First Class rank. Registration and more information can be found on the
Sweetwater District Training page. Registration must be submitted no later than May 30.
Summer Specialty Camps
The Atlanta Area Council is proud to introduce 2 specialty summer camps at the Bert Adams Scout Reservation.
Aquatics Camp and Shooting Sports School will be offered each for one week. These camps are open to Boy Scouts
and Venturers who are 13 years old or older. Scouts may attend as individuals, with a patrol, or as part of a Scouting
unit with their own adult leadership. Registration is open now! Please follow the link to the Council web page for
information, including prerequisites and costs as well as the registration page.
Tour Planning Updates
The National BSA has announced that effective May 10, what are currently known as local and national tour permits
will be superseded by what will be called the tour plan. The Tour plan will be approved by the local council. Click here
for more information or visit our Program Center.
Summer Aquatics Programs
It's almost here and it's going to be hot! We're talking about the summer programs offered by the Atlanta Area
Council at the Allatoona Aquatics Base. The base is the only Scout camp in the United States that offers expert
training in most the aquatics merit badge skills plus training for the aquatics High Adventure Camps. Also available are
year around weekend primitive camping plus seasonal (March thru October) planned weekend programs for all BSA
aquatics merit badges, safe boating and safe swim defense/safety afloat, lifeguard, basic and wilderness first aid, and high
adventure training for Boy Scouts, Varsity, Venturing/Sea Scouts, and adult Scouters.

Cub Scout Summer Camp Weekends
Can't get to camp for an extended period or during the week, Have we got a deal for you. Fun with Son is a special
one-on-one weekend experience held June 23 for any Cub Scout and his adult partner at Bert Adams Scout
Reservation in Covington. Activities include hiking, fishing, learning to shoot BB guns, doing leatherwork, swimming,
boating, shooting bows and arrows, and exploring nature. The fun culminates with a campfire at the historic
amphitheatre.
Hot dinner Saturday evening and breakfast Sunday morning will be served in the air-conditioned camp dining hall! You
and your son get to camp in one of the camp tents, just like the Boy Scouts do each week. And, of course, Scouts get
to keep all their crafts as well as a fantastic collector's participation patch.
This is a great opportunity to get out and enjoy some camping time together in a shortened schedule but not
shortened fun. The cost is $20 per person with early registration discounts available. Details are available by following
this link.
